Kristy lives with her husband and four children in Southern Minnesota. She has worked with children for many years and has a background in early childhood education.

After the loss of her mom, her passion for supporting others through grief became evident. Sometimes big moments in life require us to pivot. Through her family’s philanthropic outreach she has truly found her calling and it couldn’t be more evident in the beautiful message within “Rise Up, Little Bluebirds.”

Kristy always had a passion for writing and has connected with people from all over the world over the common thread of loss and a shared passion for the bluebird of happiness which was her mother’s favorite bird.

Seeing the way the building of her family’s birdhouses was organically providing such a constructive outlet for her family and her children to use their hands through their grief process was such an inspiration for this children’s book about processing loss.

One of the most important things they’ve learned as a family through their philanthropic outreach is the power of community and how universal the feelings of loss in life are. As isolating as grief can feel, we aren’t as alone when we help each other through it.

Being able to spread this message of hope through her first book “Rise Up, Little Bluebirds” has been such a rewarding experience. She hopes it helps to enforce that love is the unending connection that binds us all. Want to learn more about Kristy and her family?
